Skydiving is certainly not a sport for everyone, but for those who are daring and adventurous there is nothing like it in the world.

If you’ve always wanted to try skydiving there is much more to it than just strapping on a chute and jumping out of an airplane.

There are lessons and practice jumps. There are different kinds of lessons to choose from.

There’s licensing that you should be aware of once you become a skydiving addict.

So where do you start?

In a tandem free fall jump, the tandem instructor is attached to your back the whole way down.

No need to worry about being in the moment of the fall and forgetting where the ripcord is, the instructor will pull it for you.

Tandem free fall training lasts from only about 30 minutes to about 4 hours before you are ready for your first tandem free fall jump.

At first you will jump with two instructors with you. Though they are not attached to you like with a tandem free fall jump, they are with you and giving you hand signals the entire way down.

As you progress in your levels, you go down to only having one instructor showing you the moves and teaching you the different things you still haven’t learned.

The instructors are also evaluating your competence to move on to the next level.

Static line training and instructor assisted static line training requires the longest amount of ground training, about 5 hours, before you get into the air.

You are then taken to a low altitude for your first jumps and a line attached to your ripcord actually pulls it for you, just so you get a feel for the jump.

After a couple of times with the static line, you will then need to show your instructor that you understand how and when to pull your own cord, but the line will still be attached and do it for you.

Eventually you will be allowed to pull your own ripcord and elevate to higher jumps.
